I ran across Jerry's map America in Poems some time ago, but I was holding off writing about it until I could come up with something to add to it.
Unfortunately, I haven't come up with anything yet. Maybe some of the people who read this blog will prove to be more erudite than I am. I was hoping to find a poem about Iowa, where I was born and raised. I mean a good poem about Iowa. With the Writer's Workshop in Iowa City, Lord knows there are enough poets who have been through there. I've come up blank so far, but to be honest I haven't given the endeavor the effort it deserves. Maybe I'll make it to the library this weekend and I can do a Google vs Public Library search experiment. (My money's on the library for this one.)
I made a place with a poem.

But I can't figure out how to add it to the map (seems I can only add to my own maps?).
Also, the location is somewhat wrong (Le Dôme is across the street), but I can't seem to change the location.
Also, it seems to have created two places, very similar, except one has the text with no line breaks.
PS: While I wrote this, Add a map started proposing some recently visited maps, so that's ok now. But now Add a map isn't proposing them anymore, so if I wanted to add it to a second map not my own, I couldn't.

The second, ghost place also shows up in the kml view.

You have to visit the map and then go to the Place with the poem for the site to put it in your map options.
The ghost Place is a weird thing. I'm going to have to look into that. could be a bug.
Moving markers is a great feature request. I'd also love to be able to put things into the address box other than lat/long for places added by click.
