I discovered a new history map today. It's The Encyclopedia of Islam by Qwickmalik. The website seems to be based in Ghana, but the map and the rest of the site are in English. It's a pretty interesting resource for anyone curious about Islam. They have many interesting links.
Some other awesome history maps on Platial:
Psychodiscography by Spinneyhead tells the musical history of the Manchester area. This one would make a cool guide book. Be sure to check out the Spinneyhead website
The Boston History Map and the excellent blog that goes along with it are well worth a look.
The History of Videogames by Scootdown is edifying.
Portland Radical History Tour by Jason is an old favorite of mine.
Thanks for the post Tracy.
REMINDER: Everyone's invited to contribute to this encyclopedia. Don't forget to add your name and url when you contribute, so that your stamp stays with the place you plot.
Enjoy!

What a useless site platial.com is - one goes through the registration rigmarole, giving some personal details, expposing oneself to all manner of risks, simply because some idiot wrote well of the outfit, and one wished to see what it is all about. then one finds it is either a technological dud or a fraud - nothing works....

Tore-
I am so sorry that you have had a bad experience on platial. We are still a beta website, which means that we are unfinished and in our development phase. We do have bugs, and we are working very hard on a new version of the site that we hope to launch very, very soon. It would help us a lot if you could tell me what you wanted to do that didn't work for you. Also, I suspect that if you were disappointed enough to leave this comment, you probably have a real use for a site like ours and your opinion and criticism can be really useful to us. You can use the feedback form, email me, or talk about the problems you encountered on our public forum here: http://groups.google.com/group/iheartmaps
