It's the end of the Summer. The blackberries are dying to be picked. Mushroom-hunting season is upon us. The pears are falling off the trees.
The original urban foraging map on Platial was Fallen Fruit by Austin, who also has a really nice website also called Fallen Fruit. He's based in Los Angeles.
Another user, Bacchus, pointed out a couple of these to me today and then I did a quick search. I'm sure I've missed some, so if you have a map like this or know of one, post it in the comments.

Thanks for the shout-out, Tracy. Going public like this has motivated me to fill out my map more by providing more locations, better descriptions, and more accurate observations.

I'm responsible for the PDX fruit map and I'm trying to make a more comprehensive map in its own website. Unfortunately I don't know too much about web design, so if anyone is into the urban forage thing and wants to help, they can email me at queenlurlene at hotmail. Portland is a great place for foraging and I'm convinced it is possible to live without going to the grocery store at all, especially with a fully functioning map like this.

Hi folks,
I am in the process of integrating the platial map system into Glean The Planet.com .
Right now there is a forum for food sharing, but that isn't very effective for several reasons. The main issues being that a post gets lost in time/space. And it's hard for people to update and refine posts. Platial is perfect for this, and a forum is included in every point. So, I really exited about this project. I plan to have maps for all of the USA to start.
But how do I do this? I can put individual maps on individual pages like http://gleantheplanet.com/portland.html, but then do I need a separate page for each area/town. that's easily over 500 pages! ugh! Can anyone share some creative ways to display/provide this on the website? Do I just create 50 state pages that have links to all maps in those states? What do you think?

i busted out some elderberry jam from a big tree in our front yard,
i screwed up the recipe, but there are still so many berries, i'll have to try again!
It felt so great to just use what would normally be ignored, scorned or thrown away.
