Roomba Maps

Long exposure photography of the Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner as it drives around, defining the available floor space has been happening around the web. These path traces are essentially maps, but I wonder if the Roomba will ever be position aware enough to take advantage of previously discovered nooks and crannies that may not be easy to find by accident.
